This event is open to ALL South Florida core and front-end devs. We also welcome other groups to come join us from WordPress, Drupal. The more the merrier.
Developers, this is a great way for beginning developers (even students) to learn the ropes, as well as a way for advanced developers to enhance their skills while creating apps and mashups using various APIs or maybe even from scratch without using an API.
At the end of the day, teams and/or individuals get to present their work to a panel of judges and win kickass prizes.
There will also be raffles throughout the day for T-shirts and other items.

Meet Luis von Ahn, the founder of the company reCAPTCHA, which was sold to Google in 2009. He is an entrepreneur and an associate professor in the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University. His latest project is Duolingo, an app that offers”free language learning for the world”. Duolingo’s goals are to develop the most scientifically advanced language learning that truly results in people learning a language, and to enable the best possible education completely free via a unique crowdsourced business model.

MIU’s own Alex Heria, famous and beloved instructor in the Graphic Design Department, is is inviting you to attend a gallery show opening and talk on his work,
“Unfair – Midwest”, on display through the month of February. The artist talk
takes place this Wednesday, February 6, at 12 noon in Room 2038, and the opening
reception is on Thursday, February 7, from 5-9pm.
